Are India and Pakistan on the Brink of War?
Is something big going to happen between India and Pakistan ? Can India and Pakistan fight a war with each other in the next few days ? Are the current circumstances really indicating that India and Pakistan are heading towards war? Is the fire of tension that has been simmering on the borders for decades actually ready to flare up?
Historical Context: Will This Be Another Chapter in the Indo-Pak War Timeline?:-
The Pahalgam attack shook India completely and the steps taken by the Indian government after that do not seem to be mere reactions but seem to be the signs of a big storm and from there the question arises whether after 1947, 1965, 1971, 1984 and 1999, India and Pakistan are again on the verge of war.
The Trigger: Pahalgam Attack Shakes India:-
Are India and Pakistan really just a little distance away from war ? In fact, these discussions are increasing because the Indian Army has started conducting mock drills. Orders are coming from the government that mock drills should be conducted in schools, colleges and different districts. The date has been fixed. Fighter planes are roaring in the sky. The Navy is showing strength in the sea. The vigilance on the BSF border is such that even an ant cannot cross it. India has digitally banned Pakistan on social media. Nothing of Pakistan is visible in India. Even in India, social media influencers have been warned that if they write even a single word against the unity and integrity of India, they should be ready to face the consequences.
Military Movements and Mock Drills Spark Speculation:-
A series of meetings is going on continuously in Delhi. Omar Abdullah is meeting the Prime Minister in Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi is also meeting Home Minister Amit Shah. And after all these meetings, the question is arising whether these meetings point towards some big decision ? Can the armies of India and Pakistan come face to face any day now ? Will both countries burn in the fire of war under the shadow of nuclear weapons? This is a diplomatic move. This time, there is no such sign. What Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said was that the culprits of Pahalgam will be razed to the ground. This is the final attack on him. On 22 April 2025, India was shaken when 26 tourists were brutally murdered in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Digital and Diplomatic Blockade Against Pakistan:-
India blamed Pakistan for this. Pakistan, as always, denied the allegations. The public’s anger was at its peak. There were many questions on social media. The question is whether Pakistan will be taught a lesson ? The question is also why is there delay in teaching a lesson to Pakistan? Is the government limited to statements and meetings ? Because the Indian government never delayed in previous attacks. You may recall, India had shown aggression in the previous attacks.
India’s Strategic Silence: Delayed Response or Deeper Planning?:-
On 28 September 2016, 10 days after the Uri attack on 18 September 2016, the Indian Army entered Pakistan and carried out a surgical strike. In this, 38 terrorists and two Pakistani soldiers were killed. Even on 14 February 2019, 12 days after the Pulwama attack, the Indian Air Force carried out an air strike in Balakot and destroyed terrorist hideouts. But this time 14 days have passed.
Pakistan Reacts with Nuclear Threats:-
It is the 15th day and there is no military action. And now this delay is raising questions. The question is whether India is preparing for a big war? Experts believe that the wait this time is an indication of a much bigger action than a surgical or air strike. Because this time Pakistan has committed such a crime whose punishment will not be any small action but something unprecedented. The only question is what action will be taken? When will it happen? The government is repeatedly saying that Pahalgam will be avenged and it will be done in such a way that this time Pakistan will remember it. And the preparations for war are also indicating this.
Lessons from 1971: Preparation Before Action:-
On 7 May 2025, the Home Ministry has ordered checking of mock drill siren systems and blackout rehearsals in 244 districts of the country. This is the same preparation which was last seen in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. This step clearly indicates that India is preparing for some big danger. The Home Ministry has directed that the siren system for air raid warning be tested. Citizens and students should be trained in wartime safety standards. There should be awareness training on safety measures in case of an attack. Training should be given to keep important establishments safe during war.
If you do not know what mock drill and blackout exercise are, then let us inform you that these exercises are conducted for the quick response of the administration and citizens in an emergency situation. Blackout means switching off the electricity supply in the entire area for a fixed period of time so that it becomes difficult for the enemy to target. Preparations for all these things. However, the Indian government started taking action after the Pahalgam attack. The Indus Treaty was suspended on 23 April 2025.
Is War Inevitable?:-
This Tweety was signed in 1960. Attari Wagah border was closed. Movement is completely stopped. The Pakistani visa was cancelled. Pakistani business was banned. After this, on April 26, raids were conducted on terrorist hideouts. India ends SAARC visa facility. On April 28, Pakistani citizens are deported from India. 29th April is the last date given for medical visas to be cancelled and Pakistani nationals to leave India. On April 30, India launches a digital blockade, which includes blocking all Pakistani YouTube channels, Pakistani apps and websites. Pakistani planes are banned. The number of employees of Pakistani enterprises is limited from 1 May 2025. On the 2nd, India demands loan review from the IMF. After this India again does a digital strike. Completely bans Pakistan based online payment gateways and websites. On May 3, India completely bans all contact with Pakistan for cricket and all events. Are these signals from India a threat of war? However, Pakistan is realizing this and that is why Pakistan has resorted to nuclear threat to increase the tension.
A Historic Message in the Making:-
Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia Mohammad Khalid Jamali said that if India attacks, we will also use nuclear weapons. The Railway Minister there is also making similar statements. Pakistan is also making its preparations. He conducted the missile test. Fateh Abdali and missiles were tested. Stock of wheat, flour, medicines for 2 months and funds worth ₹1 billion were sent to PoK. In Pakistan, Asim Munir claims to boost the morale of soldiers on the LoC. Although his own location is doubtful. But the question is whether Pakistan, which is equipped with nuclear power, can scare India. If Pakistan does this then it will be the height of stupidity. Because after this India’s response will be such that it will become difficult for historians to find the existence of Pakistan on the map. India’s policy has always been of no first use but India’s capability is full. India believes in complete destruction. The question also is whether Pakistan has the capability to fight a long war with India? We answer this with statistics. India’s $3.5 trillion economy is 10 times Pakistan’s $376 billion economy. Pakistan knows and understands this and hence, to save itself, it is sometimes taking the help of China and sometimes of the UN and is threatening to engage India in a nuclear war. Pakistan’s army budget is less than India’s railway budget.
The number of Pakistani soldiers is less than that of Indian soldiers. Pakistan is facing severe shortage of resources. India’s defence budget is 10 times more than Pakistan’s defence budget. India’s deeper strategy, greater resources, better regeneration capability have the potential to destroy Pakistan. Pakistan has only one friend and that is its delusion. Now the question is that if India can win against Pakistan then why is India not attacking ? Because there are many people who are repeatedly raising the question that why is the government not attacking? For this he will have to remember the 54 year old story. The year was 1971. The Pakistani army committed atrocities in East Pakistan. Thousands of refugees came to India. There was then pressure on Indira Gandhi to take action. Then the then Commander Sam Manekshaw had demanded immediate war. But Manik Shah had refused. It was said that war is fought to win and not to lose. Asked for time for suitability of army and weather. Despite the April 1971 demand, the war took place in December, and the subsequent picture of 93,000 soldiers surrendering still embarrasses Pakistan. It took 7.8 months to prepare for the war in 1971. However, this does not mean that it will take the same amount of time this time too. This time too, the Indian government is giving time to the army to prepare and it seems that the government has made it clear to the army that the army will decide when, how and how much to do. But this time Pakistan has to be taught a lesson. The question is what will happen if a war breaks out?
Final Thought: National Unity Over Politics:-
Pakistan will be destroyed in a few weeks. The wound of Pahalgam is deep for India and this time the reply will be historic. This time there will not just be revenge but there will be a message that India will no longer remain silent. Pakistan’s threats and military preparations show its frustration. But India’s patience shows its strength. Army, government, opposition, public all are united this time. India wants peace but peace with respect. India is patient but not cowardly. India is tolerant but it will not compromise on its self-respect. India wants to give this message to Pakistan that this time you will have to hold a historical account of whatever you did in Pahalgam.
And if even after this Pakistan dares to make any mistake then this time neither Bangladesh will be formed nor Sialkot will survive nor the name of Islamabad will be written in history. This time history will be written afresh that Pakistan, born in 1947, becomes endless in the 21st century. But the question still remains: will this lead to war ? The answer to this question lies with the Indian Army and the Government of India. We should strongly support the government in whatever decision it takes. This matter is not about the ruling party or the opposition but about India. Whatever happened in Pahalgam was an attack on the soul of India and this time India will give a historic reply. We should wait for that answer and stand firmly with the Indian Government and follow their orders.
